Wheeled Plank

We gave Tav a skateboard. He seems pretty excited by this...

Christmas 2018 - Part 1

We haven't even reached the merry immolation of the yuletide log yet and already the festivities have taken us to the the exotic climes of Sheffiled, Holbury, Fritham, and Fuerteventura. I have high hopes that I'll be able to write some words (better than these) about all of this, but as a sort of documentary safety net - here are some pictures. Some of these pictures (mostly just the good ones) were taken by this man.

Even more 'cross

The cyclocross racing weekends, thankfully featuring more than just the painful race itself, have continued in Penticton and Revelstoke. Here be pictures:

Bicycle traditions

We've been making an annual trip to the wilds of Kelowna to ride the Myra Canyon trestles since Tav was Aiste-sized, and this weekend we ticked off this years' navigation of highly-flammable wooden structures. This year we were joined by Emily, Dawson, and Eloiuse.... which meant I had to figure out how to tow two run-bikes at the same time. Surprisingly, no one got tangled up in anything... I have no idea how we managed it.

Whist Tav is distracted by the camera, Aiste goes for a stick-grab (unsuccessful).

Run-bikes of all sizes

This year we've also re-kindled our tradition of spending weekends in the fall riding as fast as possible around in circles in a muddy field. This weekend was our third race of the season, and brought all the wet grass I'd ever wished to ride my bike through to the playing fields of Vernon cadet barracks. It was dank and gloomy, there was slipping-and-sliding, and I won some beer. I rate this one a 10/10 cyclocross experience.

Aiste may not understand yet, but we're going to make her join in as soon as she can ride a bike

Tav knows what's coming

A bike race where you have to get off your bike and carry it - like that makes any sense.

Waist-high barriers is a little harsh, even for cyclocross - but Tav seemed to have fun.

This is the correct facial expression for cyclocross.

Edible medals - one of the best ideas ever.

Wheely Wheel

As recently recommended to me (thanks Duncan), it turns out your needs for bicycle-themed reggae can be satisfied by the wonderful Earlando "Early B" Arrington Neil. My receipt of this wisdom collided with Lina capturing Tav's enthusiasm for the skatepark on video... and you can probably guess how that turned out...

It's Just Grass

I am proud to announce a new "edit" featuring Tav as he strives to understand the natural world surrounding him.

Here's the "extended play" version:

Anniversary and breathable air celebration

British Columbia is currently leading the world in poor air quality thanks to all the forests being on fire. Of course that's not very much fun, but we got a brief break in the smoke yesterday and celebrated our wedding anniversary by riding to the beach for the hazy sunset.

At least smoke can look nice, in moderation.

One way ticket to Utah, and back.

We also went to California, though our trailer only came as far as Utah where it stopped for a break. It was a lot of fun.

2018 - so that's a thing now.

Here's what happened around here in 2017, though frankly that's old news.

Year 2 - Tav and Aiste

And while were about it, here's a picture of me on New Year's Day, which you can't really tell is me, but it is. So there.
